The group that makes the difference

Growth-hormone-releasing hormone is 44 residues. The first 29 carry the full activity, which is what sermorelin is. CJC-1295 takes that 29-residue fragment and swaps four amino acids to resist the enzyme that would otherwise trim it.

The DAC version adds one more thing: a maleimidopropionic acid group that forms a covalent bond with albumin once it is in circulation. Albumin is abundant and long-lived, so the peptide travels with it instead of being cleared. In research models that turns a half-life of minutes into one measured in days.

The no-DAC version stops at the four substitutions. It is cleared quickly, which gives a short pulse rather than a sustained level.

The 279 g/mol difference is the DAC group. That is a large enough gap that a mass-spec line on a lab report identifies which one you have without ambiguity.

A note on the CAS number: published listings for the no-DAC form conflict with the DAC form in several references, so we do not print one for it. We would rather print nothing than print the wrong one.

Which shows up in blends

The no-DAC form is the one usually paired with a ghrelin receptor agonist, because a pulsatile GHRH signal alongside a ghrelin signal is the combination those protocols study.
