What is tesamorelin? A GHRH(1-44) analog
Tesamorelin is a synthetic GHRH analog built from all 44 residues of the hormone. Its structure, mass, vial sizes, the ipamorelin blend and its lab report.
Published November 6, 2026
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) built from all 44 residues of the hormone, with a trans-3-hexenoyl group attached at the N-terminus. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder for laboratory research at 5135.90 g/mol, and it acts at the GHRH receptor.
It is both the longest and the heaviest GHRH analog in our catalog, which is what separates it from sermorelin and CJC-1295 in every comparison. What follows covers what the molecule is made of, where it sits in the GHRH family, what its size means at the bench, how it is sold in Canada, and what its lab report should show.

What tesamorelin is made of
GHRH is a 44-residue hormone, and tesamorelin keeps the whole chain rather than a fragment of it. The single modification sits at the start of the chain: a trans-3-hexenoyl group, a six-carbon chain with one double bond, attached to the N-terminus. That cap slows the enzymes that would otherwise trim the peptide from its end, which is what makes it a more durable molecule than the unmodified hormone.
The catalog describes it as a synthetic GHRH(1-44) analog studied in GH-axis and lipid-metabolism research.

Where tesamorelin sits among the GHRH analogs
GHRH is 44 residues long, and the first 29 carry its full activity. The analogs in the catalog take that hormone in different directions: sermorelin uses the short fragment untouched, CJC-1295 modifies the fragment, and tesamorelin keeps the whole chain and caps it.

Tesamorelin is 53% heavier than CJC-1295 no-DAC, and the 15 extra residues account for most of that. At the same milligram figure a tesamorelin vial holds about a third fewer molecules. Sermorelin and CJC-1295 no-DAC, by contrast, are only ten grams per mole apart, so the observed mass on a report is the line that decides which of the two is in a vial. Sermorelin vs tesamorelin vs CJC-1295 works through the family in full.
Tesamorelin and ipamorelin in one vial
Tesamorelin acts at the GHRH receptor. Ipamorelin acts at a different one, the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), so the pair covers two separate signals rather than two versions of the same one. We sell them together as a pre-blended vial, 1:1 by mass, in 5 mg + 5 mg and 10 mg + 10 mg sizes.
A 1:1 ratio by mass is not 1:1 by molecule count. Ipamorelin is 711.85 g/mol against tesamorelin's 5135.90, so the vial holds about 7.2 ipamorelin molecules for every tesamorelin molecule. Tesamorelin and ipamorelin: why they are paired gives the molar concentrations, and ipamorelin vs sermorelin vs tesamorelin sets both GHRH analogs against the ghrelin agonist. Ipamorelin is not growth hormone itself, a point is ipamorelin a growth hormone? answers directly.
What tesamorelin's size means at the bench
Because tesamorelin is a 44-residue peptide, a milligram of it is a comparatively small number of molecules. A 5 mg vial holds about 0.97 micromoles, where the same mass of ipamorelin holds roughly 7 micromoles.

Tesamorelin vial sizes we sell, at four diluent volumes. Molarity uses 5135.9 g/mol. Other volumes
Concentration is the vial's mass divided by the volume of water you add, and molarity follows from the molecular weight. Adding 1 mL to a 5 mg vial gives 5 mg/mL; adding 2 mL gives 2.5 mg/mL. The amount of peptide in the vial never changes, only the concentration. The tesamorelin calculator preset works the numbers for every vial size we stock.
Once water is in the vial the handling rules are the same as for any peptide: run the bacteriostatic water down the glass instead of onto the powder, swirl rather than shake, and keep dry powder in the freezer with the solution in the fridge. How to reconstitute a lyophilized peptide covers the technique.
Buying tesamorelin in Canada, and checking the vial
Tesamorelin is sold in Canada as a research chemical for in-vitro laboratory use, not as a drug or a supplement, and it is not approved by Health Canada for any use in people or animals. The catalog carries it as a lyophilized vial in three sizes, 5 mg for $49.99, 10 mg for $77.99 and 20 mg for $119.99, and the blend in two.
What keeps a research peptide on the right side of the line in Canada is intended use rather than the molecule itself. Marketing or selling it for human consumption is what is not permitted, which is a separate question from whether the material can be supplied for the bench. Are research peptides legal in Canada? sets out that distinction, and this page is general information, not legal advice.
A tesamorelin report should carry four things:
- An observed mass near 5135.90 g/mol, printed next to the expected value
- HPLC purity at 99% or higher, the release spec a batch has to meet before it ships
- A batch number that matches the code on the vial in your hand
- A named, independent lab, with the test date on the document
Tesamorelin's mass line is far from every other GHRH analog we sell, so a report reading near 5135.90 is a clean identity check. A blend report has two identities to confirm, so it should show two mass lines, one near 5135.90 and one near 711.85. How to read a peptide lab report walks through each field and what a recycled report looks like.
Every tesamorelin vial and blend from pepuro ships free, from our Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver distribution centers, the same business day your e-Transfer clears, with a QR code on the vial that opens its independent, third-party lab report.
For research use only. Not for human or animal consumption.
Frequently asked questions
What is tesamorelin?
+
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It keeps all 44 residues of the hormone and carries a trans-3-hexenoyl group at the N-terminus that slows enzymatic breakdown. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder for laboratory research at 5135.90 g/mol.
Is tesamorelin the same as CJC-1295?
+
No. Both are GHRH analogs, but they are built differently. CJC-1295 no-DAC keeps the first 29 residues and swaps four amino acids, at 3367.90 g/mol. Tesamorelin keeps all 44 residues and caps the N-terminus instead, at 5135.90 g/mol.
What is the molecular weight of tesamorelin?
+
5135.90 g/mol, with the formula C221H366N72O67S and CAS number 218949-48-5. A 5 mg vial holds about 0.97 micromoles at that mass, against roughly 7 micromoles in the same mass of ipamorelin.
Is tesamorelin available in Canada?
+
Yes, as a research chemical for in-vitro laboratory use. It is not a Health Canada-approved drug and is not for human or animal consumption. It ships free to any Canadian address from a domestic supplier.
What is in the tesamorelin and ipamorelin blend?
+
Two peptides in one vial, 1:1 by mass. The smaller vial holds 5 mg of each and the larger holds 10 mg of each. Because ipamorelin is about 7.2 times lighter, the vial holds about 7.2 ipamorelin molecules for every tesamorelin molecule.
What should a tesamorelin lab report show?
+
An observed mass near 5135.90 g/mol printed beside the expected value, HPLC purity at 99% or higher, a batch number that matches the code on the vial, and the name of the independent lab that ran the test with its test date.
