Guide
Do the new tariffs change what research peptides cost in Canada?
No. Research peptides are not on Canada's counter-tariff list, which covers steel, dairy, appliances, electronics and similar goods. What does cost you when ordering from a US supplier, and why domestic is still the cheaper route.
Published August 25, 2026
No. Research peptides are not on Canada's counter-tariff list, so the tariffs announced this week do not change what a vial costs you.
Canada's measures, effective September 8, 2026, cover roughly 700 US products at 15, 25 and 50 per cent. The targeted sectors are steel, aluminum, dairy, appliances, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper, electronics, furniture, clothing, seafood and tools. The US measures they mirror cover steel, aluminum and copper, vehicles, wood, semiconductors and patented pharmaceuticals.
Research chemicals appear in none of it. If a supplier tells you tariffs have pushed peptide prices up, that claim does not match the published list, which anyone can read on the Department of Finance site.

What importing research peptides from the US actually costs
Tariffs are not the cost that catches people out. These are, and they applied before this week and will apply after it:
| Order value from a US courier | What you pay |
|---|---|
| CAD $40 or less | No duty, no tax |
| $40.01 to $150 | No duty, but GST/HST applies |
| Over $150 | Duty and tax on the full value |
On top of that the carrier charges a brokerage fee to prepare the customs entry, plus a disbursement fee of roughly 2.5 per cent for fronting the charges on your behalf. On a single-vial order those fees are frequently larger than the tax.
A domestic order has none of them. Nothing crosses a border, so there is nothing to assess, nothing to broker and nothing to disburse.
The cost that is not money
The reason to order research peptides domestically has never really been the tariff schedule. A parcel entering Canada can be examined, delayed or refused by the Canada Border Services Agency, and research chemicals draw attention as a category. Import obligations rest with you as the receiver, not the sender, and most suppliers exclude customs outcomes from their terms, so a held parcel is usually not replaced.
Our guides on Windsor and Abbotsford cover that in more depth for the border cities where the temptation is strongest.
Verifying what you receive
Whichever supplier you use, the check is the same. Every vial we ship carries a QR code that opens the third-party lab report for the exact batch it was filled from: HPLC purity, mass-spec identity, appearance, testing lab and date. Scan a sample at /track before ordering anything.

Frequently asked questions
Are research peptides affected by Canada's tariffs on US goods?+
No. Canada's counter-tariff list covers sectors such as steel, aluminum, dairy, appliances, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper, electronics, furniture and clothing. Research chemicals are not on it. Any supplier telling you tariffs have raised peptide prices is not describing the published list.
When do Canada's counter-tariffs take effect?+
September 8, 2026, on roughly 700 US products at rates of 15, 25 and 50 per cent, matching the US measures they respond to. The Department of Finance publishes the full list at the tariff-item level.
Do I pay duty when importing research peptides from a US supplier?+
Duty is waived on courier shipments from the US valued at CAD $150 or less, but sales tax applies above CAD $40, and above CAD $150 both duty and tax apply to the full value. Carrier brokerage and disbursement fees are charged separately and are often the largest line on a small order.
Is ordering Canadian research peptides cheaper right now?+
For most orders yes, though not because of tariffs. A domestic order crosses no border, so there is no sales tax collected at import, no brokerage fee, no disbursement fee, and no risk of a parcel being held. Our shipping is free to every Canadian address.
Could research peptides be added to the tariff list later?+
The list can be amended, which is one reason to check the official Department of Finance page rather than a supplier's marketing copy. A domestic order is unaffected either way, since nothing crosses a border.
